About BLACK IN THE CORE

Welcome to BLACK IN THE CORE, your passport to NYC’s cultural heritage! Join us on a journey to discover and appreciate the soul of the city, where the cultural and historical significance of the Black community is deeply rooted. Neighborhoods like Harlem, Bedford-Stuyvesant, and the Bronx, have been a focal point for Black culture, art, and activism. It’s where iconic figures like Langston Hughes, Malcolm X, and many jazz legends made their mark.

In fact, did you know that “The Big Apple” is a nickname for New York that was popularized by the Black jazz musicians who flocked here in the 1920s during the Jazz Age? It’s a piece of history that underscores the city’s enduring connection with Black culture. This is a pro-Black channel; it’s not anti-anybody. I love diversity and it’s one of the main reasons I continue to live in NYC. I value and appreciate every single person that supports this channel no matter who you are.
